Window Rescue 101…Hands-On Window Restoration Workshop

The 2016 Sanford Historic Preservation Lecture Series

Featuring: Jodi Rubin, CCS Restoration

By popular demand, the Sanford Historic Preservation Lecture Series brings you a hands-on workshop focused on window restoration! Part I of the workshop will be held on Wednesday, June 15th, and will include an informative presentation on historic wood windows - including restoration, options for weatherizing, and energy efficiency.

Participants will learn by interacting with visual aids and tools of the trade. Part II of the workshop will be held on Thursday, June 16th, on-site at CCS Restoration’s woodworking shop. Participants will work side by side with window restoration specialists who will guide them through the steps involved in window restoration - including repair, use of epoxies, scraping, sanding, and glazing. Please note: The woodworking shop is not air conditioned and therefore can be hot. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and MUST wear close-toed shoes.

Jodi Rubin has been involved in Florida’s preservation community since 1989, when she became the Historic Preservation Officer for the City of Orlando. She now owns and manages CCS Restoration, a millwork shop specializing in building and restoring wood windows and doors. Jodi has a BS in Landscape Architecture and an MS in Urban and Regional Planning, both from the University of Wisconsin. She is a Trustee of the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation and is on the board of the Sanford Heritage Revolving Fund.

The lecture is free and open to the public. The June 15th session will be held in the City Commission Chambers of Sanford City Hall, 300 N. Park Avenue. The June 16th session will be held at CCS Restoration, 200 N. Laurel Avenue.
